KITTY CUCUMBER “SWAN LAKE” KITTY CUCUMBER & ALBERT 2nd
ANNUAL PORCELAIN FIGURINE. The Kitty Cucumber Collection evolved from a favorite cat that artist Mary Lillemoe had as a child- a cat born, of all places, in a cucumber patch. Many years later, upon first seeing Mary's whimsical sketches of her now famous childhood pet, Mary's 5-year-old daughter Annie proudly announced, "That's Kitty Cucumber!" And with that out- of- the mouths-of babes exclamation, a collection was born. Schmid was an international leader in fine gifts and collectibles, and transformed Kitty and her friends into finely handcrafted, hand painted collectibles. This figurine is called “Swan Lake”. It is the 2nd annual 1990 figurine. This figurine captures Kitty Cucumber and Albert in a graceful pas de deux! Albert is Kitty Cucumber’s bashful, neat-as-a-pin conservative male friend. Ballet fans will delight as Kitty Cucumber and Albert take center stage in the classic “Swan Lake”- the ballet composed by Russian composer Tchaikovsky in 1875–76. Despite its initial failure, it is now one of the most popular ballets of all time. They both look beautiful together. They are so graceful! Kitty Cucumber looks beautiful in her ballet dress with her gold crown. Albert looks handsome in his ballet outfit also. He is even wearing blue boots! They look so happy dancing together. The facial features are nicely done- gleaming eyes and white whiskers. Great as a recital gift. This figurine is approximately 3-1/4” high. It is Schmid #331-185. Underneath the figurine it is marked with the Kitty Cucumber trademark. In addition, it has “Swan Lake” 1990, Schmid, © B. Shackman, Hand Painted. The figurine is in new condition and has no box. Any Kitty Cucumber collector will love this figurine for their collection. This figurine was never displayed, from a smoke & pet free home. Any ballerina will cherish this figurine for years to come.
